\"CyberpunkCyberpunk 2077 updates are like that NBA meme \u201cI got one more in me\u201d. Five years after its original release, CD Projekt Red is still finding ways to improve Night City, and Update 2.5 brings a welcome collection of new features to a game that has already come an incredibly long way since launch.<\/span><\/p>\n

Released on October 22, 2026, the update introduces new quests, dual-wielding, cyberware appearance customization, cross-platform mod support, and several quality-of-life improvements. Whether you’re returning to an existing character or starting a new playthrough, there’s more to discover and experiment with.<\/span><\/p>\n

New quests and collectibles<\/span><\/h2>\n

Update 2.5 introduces two new side quests<\/b><\/span>, one connecting to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and the other exploring Night City’s history.<\/span><\/p>\n

Clampdown<\/span><\/i> takes place before the events of the second season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and becomes available after completing <\/span>The Heist<\/span><\/i> and two gigs for Wakako. It rewards players with a five-piece equipment set inspired by King, a character from the new season. <\/span>Welcome to Paradise<\/span><\/i> takes a different approach, sending players on a guided tour of Night City narrated by its founder, Richard Night, while introducing a mystery to investigate. This quest unlocks after <\/span>The Heist<\/span><\/i>, once you’ve reached Street Cred level 15.<\/span>\"CyberpunkThe two quests offer different ways to revisit the setting, from a connection to the anime to a closer look at the history behind Night City itself. That history is one of the more interesting aspects of Cyberpunk’s world, so I particularly like the premise of <\/span>Welcome to Paradise<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Exploration gets a little more content as well, with <\/span>12 new Minor Arcana Tarot cards<\/span> <\/b>scattered throughout Night City. Discovering one begins a quest connected to <\/span>Fool on the Hill<\/span><\/i>, and collecting the complete set earns a reward. For players who enjoy searching the city’s less obvious corners, the new cards provide another reason to wander off the usual routes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dual-wielding and combat additions<\/span><\/h2>\n

Update 2.5 introduces dual-wielding<\/span><\/b>, allowing players to equip two Power pistols or revolvers simultaneously. The new <\/span>Double Trouble<\/span><\/i> perk in the Cool attribute tree unlocks the feature, with four supporting perks to develop that playstyle further. Having tried it myself, I found dual-wielding really fun, and it fits naturally into Cyberpunk 2077’s fast-paced combat. With the variety of weapons, cyberware, and character builds already available, it’s another enjoyable option to experiment with.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Cyberpunk<\/p>\n

More character customization<\/span><\/h2>\n

Body modification is such an important part of Cyberpunk 2077’s world that being able to customize the appearance of your arm cyberware feels like a natural addition. <\/span>Five new Glamdocs<\/span> <\/b>have opened across Night City, allowing players\u00a0to change<\/span><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0the appearance<\/span> <\/b>and colors of their Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire, and Projectile Launch System. Each specialist has a dedicated shop, introductory sequence, and voiced dialogue, making the customization process feel like another part of the city’s everyday life.<\/span><\/p>\n

That greater freedom extends to V’s overall appearance, with additional hairstyles, clothing collections, vehicle skins, and Photo Mode options. The new clothing includes pieces from Maxiwear, Jinguji, NetWatch and IconAmerica, alongside the NUS Infiltrator set. Together, these additions offer more ways to create a distinctive look for your character.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Cyberpunk<\/p>\n

Cross-platform mod support<\/span><\/h2>\n

Official cross-platform mod support <\/b><\/span>is now available through mod.io, allowing players on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S to browse and install selected community-created modifications directly from the game.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is especially useful for console players, who previously had far fewer options for modifying their experience. The initial selection is limited, and using a modded save on consoles disables achievements and trophies, but the integrated browser makes accessing community content much more straightforward. It should be interesting to see what becomes available as more creators bring their work to the platform.<\/span><\/p>\n

Quality-of-life and technical improvements<\/span><\/h2>\n

Beyond the new content, Update 2.5 addresses several everyday inconveniences and introduces graphics improvements for supported hardware.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The patch includes bug fixes and technical refinements, too. With the new features covered, it’s worth looking at the much larger transformation that has brought Cyberpunk 2077 to this point.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cyberpunk 2077 has never been better<\/span><\/h2>\n

Cyberpunk 2077’s current state is particularly impressive when you remember how it launched in December 2020. Technical problems and poor performance on older consoles overshadowed much of what the game did well, and its reputation suffered enormously as a result.<\/span><\/p>\n

CD Projekt Red spent the following years fixing problems and improving the experience, with Update 2.0 marking the biggest turning point. The redesigned perk trees, revamped cyberware system, combat improvements, and changes to police behavior made the gameplay far more satisfying. Phantom Liberty then built on that foundation with an outstanding storyline, memorable characters, and some of the most difficult choices in the game.<\/span>\"CyberpunkThose changes helped Cyberpunk 2077 grow into a much more polished and complete RPG. Update 2.5 continues that progress, adding new content and customization options to a game whose core systems have already been extensively refined. There may still be occasional technical issues, as with most large open-world games, but the difference between the launch experience and what players can enjoy today is remarkable.<\/span><\/p>\n

And beyond the improvements themselves, I think there’s a much bigger reason to revisit Cyberpunk 2077: when you look at everything it offers now, it deserves to be discussed alongside the very best games in its genre.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the greatest open-world RPGs ever made?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of my favorite open-world RPGs ever made, and I genuinely believe there’s an argument for it being one of the greatest, if not the greatest. Very few games combine such a distinctive setting with excellent storytelling and so much freedom in how you develop and play your character.<\/span>\"\"Night City is an incredible achievement in world design. Its towering skyscrapers, crowded streets, neon-lit entertainment districts and neglected industrial areas create a city that feels visually overwhelming in the best possible way. But what makes it special goes beyond its appearance. The contrast between corporate luxury and widespread poverty, the advertisements competing for your attention, and the constant obsession with money, status, and reputation all reinforce the kind of society Cyberpunk 2077 wants to portray.<\/span><\/p>\n

And that\u2019s before we get to the characters and side quests. Many of the people you meet have their own problems, motivations, and relationships, and some of the game’s most memorable stories happen away from the main campaign. Phantom Liberty strengthened that aspect even further, delivering an exceptional narrative filled with difficult decisions and characters whose motives aren’t always easy to judge. <\/span>The gameplay is just as important to me. Between the weapons, cyberware, perks, and quickhacks, there’s an enormous amount of freedom to approach encounters however you prefer. You can sneak through a building while manipulating enemies through their implants, rely on a Sandevistan to move through firefights at incredible speed, or build V into a heavily armed fighter who handles problems much more directly. Different builds can change the rhythm of combat considerably, which makes experimenting with new approaches genuinely enjoyable.<\/span>\"\"It’s the combination of those elements that puts Cyberpunk 2077 among the best for me. Night City provides an unforgettable setting, the writing gives you reasons to care about the people living in it, and the gameplay offers enough flexibility to make exploring that world consistently entertaining. There’s plenty of room to debate which open-world RPG deserves the top spot, but Cyberpunk 2077 absolutely belongs in that conversation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Night City keeps getting better<\/span><\/h2>\n

Update 2.5 gives players more to enjoy in Cyberpunk 2077, from fresh quests and collectibles to dual-wielding, cyberware customization, and community mod support. I particularly enjoyed trying the new dual-wielding option, and it’s great to see CD Projekt Red continuing to support the game more than five years after release.<\/span><\/p>\n

For anyone who hasn’t experienced Night City yet, or has been considering another playthrough, there’s never been a better time to jump in.<\/span><\/p>\n
