New GTA Leaks: Early GTA 6 Map Assets and Canceled GTA 5 Liberty City DLC

Summary

A 192 GB GTA leak includes canceled GTA 5 Liberty City and Agent Trevor expansions, an alternate Trevor death scene, and early GTA 6 map assets. These discoveries offer a look at past development plans and hint at a possible Liberty City DLC for GTA 6.s

GTA Liberty City

On September 18, 2026, around 192 GB of Rockstar Games development files have surfaced publicly. The leaks include a canceled Liberty City expansion for GTA 5, unused single-player missions with Trevor in space (yes, you read it right), an alternate death scene for Trevor, and early GTA 6 map assets.

The discoveries offer a glimpse into ideas Rockstar explored during development and a hint at possible GTA 6 expansions.

What leaked in the Rockstar archive?

The archive includes material for several Rockstar projects:

  • Canceled GTA 5 Liberty City DLC: Evidence of an expanded Liberty City concept.
  • Agent Trevor DLC: Unused mission details, interiors, and assets with a space setting.
  • Alternate GTA 5 story content: Dialogue for a different Trevor death scene and unused Franklin–Brucie interactions.
  • Early GTA 6 map assets: Low-detail scenery linked to Vice City’s airport, downtown, port, and Vice Beach.
  • Other development material: Early vehicles, scrapped GTA Online content, debug menus, and development builds.

Where did the Rockstar leak come from?

The leaked files come from Rockstar’s 2022 data breach, not a new hack. The files circulated among a limited number of individuals before spreading widely on September 18, 2026.

The leaked archive contains source code, development assets, internal tools, debug builds, and menus from multiple platforms.

The biggest discovery is the canceled  Liberty City expansion for GTA 5. At some point, Rockstar was developing a much larger version of Liberty City (New York City), including surrounding New York State and beyond.

The ambition seemingly included Long Island, the Hudson River flowing up north, expanded New Jersey, Jamaica Bay, the George Washington Bridge, Cape Cod, Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, and more.

The expanded layout comes partly from shoreline audio zones. These boundaries determine where shoreline sounds play. The outlines, together with terrain-related material, have allowed fans to reconstruct a possible map shape.

Could Liberty City become GTA 6 DLC?

It’s reasonable to contemplate the idea that Rockstar may have postponed Liberty City to be included as a potential GTA 6 DLC.

Agent Trevor DLC assets reveal unused locations

The archive also has content for GTA 5’s canceled Agent Trevor single-player DLC, including mission names, short descriptions, and large unused interiors.

Altogether, very surprisingly, the Trevor DLC was supposed to feature a space setting with spacesuits and a space station. 🚀

Trevor’s alternate ending involved liquid nitrogen

A recorded but unreleased dialogue for an earlier version of Ending A, in which Franklin chooses to kill Trevor.

In this version, Trevor would have crashed into a tank of liquid nitrogen instead of the fuel tanker used in the released game. He would then have frozen and shattered, producing a very different death scene.

Unused dialogue connects Franklin with Brucie Kibbutz, the fitness-obsessed character introduced in GTA 4.

Beta vehicles and scrapped GTA Online content

Other discoveries include early GTA 5 vehicles, notably a version of the police car seen in the game’s original trailer.

These assets provide another glimpse of how vehicles and other details changed during production. The archive also contains abandoned GTA Online content, debug interfaces, and development builds from different platforms.

Early GTA 6 map assets

The files contain low-quality map assets from an early version of the game’s world. Areas include Vice City’s airport, downtown, port, and Vice Beach.

Vice City assets appear to be early explorations for the city layout. Some suggested they could also be LOD models, or “level of detail” assets: simplified scenery used when full detail isn’t needed, such as at a distance.

Twitch CEO points to GTA 6 multiplayer in 2027

Separately from the leaked files, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy said GTA 6’s multiplayer component could arrive in 2027.

Clancy discussed Twitch’s conversations with Rockstar and expected viewership to rise when GTA 6 launches, followed by an even larger increase when multiplayer arrives the following year.

The remarks have fueled speculation that multiplayer could launch alongside a PC version, potentially with roleplay features designed to appeal to streamers.

Wrap up

For fans, the resurfaced files offer a fascinating look at canceled expansions, rewritten scenes, and early experiments. The excitement is understandable, particularly around Liberty City and Agent Trevor, but these discoveries document past development work. It remains unclear whether any abandoned ideas will return in a future Rockstar release.
