Rods vs. Bobbers
Rods and Bobbers help with progression in different ways.
- Rods are the main upgrade as they affect your luck, fishing speed, and max fish weight. A better one helps you catch heavier fish and progress faster overall.
- Bobbers are support items. They add extra luck, but some can also improve mutation chance, shiny chance, bonus XP, or special mutation multipliers. It’s best to invest in Bobbers once the Rod isn’t lacking.

How to enchant your Rod?
To enchant your Rod in Fish It, follow these steps:
- Get some enhancement stones. They’re tough to come by early, but it gets easier with each grind.
- Go to Esoteric Depths Island by boat.
- Pay the elevator fee of 400 coins.
- Head all the way to Astra Damsal after taking the elevator.
- Hold down your enchantment stone.
- Place the enchantment stone on the Altar by pressing E.
- Receive a random enchantment on your Rod.

Bobbers are also called Bait by many Fish It players. They are the main feature for increasing luck while fishing. Some Fish It Bobbers are bought from the Bobber Shop, some come from the Traveling Merchant, and some are quest or gamepass items.
There are also event Rods tied to limited-time events, similar to Steal a Brainrot Admin Abuse event windows, so you won’t find them again unless the event is rerun.

Best Fish It Rods and Bobbers progression path
Every player starts out with a Starter Rod. The progression from this point depends solely on your choices. It’s better to skip Luck, Carbon, or Grass Rods.
- Instead, get the free Lava Rod, then save for Damascus.
- After that, Lucky Rod becomes the first real upgrade.
- From there, save for Astral, the best Rod in Joe’s Rods Store.
Ghostfinn is the best Rod upgrade in-game overall, but completing its quest takes time. You need to catch:
- 300 Rare or Epic fish in the Treasure Room.
- 3 Mythic fish at the Sisyphus statue.
- 1 Secret fish at the Sisyphus statue.
Plus, you must earn 1M coins. Not to mention, catching the Secret fish has a 1-in-3.5-million chance.
For Bobbers, skip Luck Bait and buy Midnight Bait. The best final Bobber target is Aether Bait.
