The Roblox newcomer Steal an Egg has just received its very first major update. Released on August 22, 2026, the update expands the game beyond the Cosmic biome and introduces new ways to upgrade eggs.
The main addition is the Sakura Incubator – a permanent machine that allows players to mutate unhatched Cherry Blossom eggs using Sakura Crystals. The update also introduces the recurring Great Bloom event, where players can collect the resources needed to charge the Incubator.

What was added in the Steal an Egg Cherry Blossom update?
The August 22 Cherry Blossom update adds several connected features centered around the new Cherry Blossom biome and egg mutations. Here’s what was added:
- Cherry Blossom biome – the new endgame area located beyond the Cosmic biome.
- 8 new pets – a new collection of pets exclusive to Cherry Blossom eggs.
- Sakura Incubator – a permanent machine that allows players to mutate unhatched Cherry Blossom eggs.
- Crane – a new Epic pet that must be submitted to unlock the Sakura Incubator permanently.
- The Great Bloom – a recurring event in the Cherry Blossom biome that lets players collect Sakura Crystals.
- Sakura Crystals – a new resource used to charge the Sakura Incubator.
- Bloom and Spirit Bloom – two new egg mutations that can be obtained through the Incubator.
- Weather and event system – a broader system for recurring events, with The Great Bloom being its first implemented event.
All these features are closely connected, creating a new progression loop around obtaining Cherry Blossom eggs, unlocking the Incubator, collecting Sakura Crystals, and mutating eggs before hatching them.
Cherry Blossom biome
The Cherry Blossom biome is the newest and deepest regular area in Steal an Egg, located beyond the Cosmic biome. It introduces a new egg pool with 8 exclusive pets and is also where players can find the Sakura Incubator.
If you’re heading to the Cherry Blossom biome, you’ll want around 2.5B Speed to make it there. However, having 3.5B+ Speed is a better target if you actually want to farm Cherry Blossom eggs, as you’ll have a better chance of getting past the guardian pets without being caught.

The Sakura Incubator is located at the back of the biome, but players can’t use it immediately. You first need to obtain a Crane from a Cherry Blossom egg and submit it to the machine to unlock it permanently.
The Cherry Blossom biome is also where The Great Bloom takes place, the update’s recurring event. During this event, players can collect Sakura Crystals, which can later be used to charge the Sakura Incubator.
Cherry Blossom pets
The Cherry Blossom biome comes with 8 new pets, ranging from the Epic Crane to the rare Divine Kitsune. Each pet has its own base income and provides an additional Speed bonus when added to your Index.
NOTE: Here’s the list of all pets in Steal an Egg.
The Crane is especially important because players need it to unlock the Sakura Incubator. Unlike most pets, you’ll need to give up your Crane to activate the machine, so consider hatching another one if you want to keep it in your collection.
Sakura Incubator
The Sakura Incubator is the main new feature of the Cherry Blossom update. Once unlocked, it lets players give their unhatched Cherry Blossom eggs special mutations before hatching them.
To unlock the Incubator, you first need to hatch a Crane from a Cherry Blossom egg and submit it to the machine. The Crane is consumed in the process, but the Incubator stays permanently unlocked for future use.

Once the machine is active, the basic process is:
- Get a Cherry Blossom egg.
- Keep the egg unhatched in your inventory.
- Place it in the Sakura Incubator.
- Collect Sakura Crystals during The Great Bloom event.
- Use the Crystals to charge the Incubator.
- Charge the egg using your Sakura Crystals.
- Hatch the mutated egg to see which pet you receive.
The Incubator accepts an unhatched Cherry Blossom egg from your inventory. You can’t use a pet that has already hatched or an egg that has already been placed in your pen.
The Incubator can also be charged beyond 100%, up to 150%. What the different charge levels mean for your mutation chances is covered below.
The Great Bloom event
The Great Bloom is a recurring event in the Cherry Blossom biome and the main way to collect Sakura Crystals. During the event, special Crystal Cherry Blossom Trees appear in the area, giving players a short window to gather resources for the Sakura Incubator.
The event currently starts about every 30 minutes on server time and lasts for around 3 minutes. When it begins, an on-screen announcement lets you know that the Great Bloom is on.
How to collect Sakura Crystals
When the Great Bloom starts, head to the Cherry Blossom biome with a Baseball Bat equipped. Hit the special Crystal Cherry Blossom Trees to collect Sakura Crystals as they drop.
Once you have unlocked the Sakura Incubator, a timer above the machine also shows when the next Great Bloom begins. This makes it easier to plan your next crystal-farming run instead of waiting around in the biome.
Sakura Crystals are used to charge eggs in the Sakura Incubator, making The Great Bloom an important part of the new mutation system.
Tip: The Great Bloom only lasts for a few minutes, so it’s worth staying near the Cherry Blossom biome when the event is about to start. This gives you more time to collect Sakura Crystals instead of traveling there after the event has already begun.
Bloom and Spirit Bloom mutations
The Sakura Incubator gives players a chance to apply one of two new mutations to their Cherry Blossom egg: Bloom or Spirit Bloom. The egg must be mutated before it is hatched, making these mutations part of the new Cherry Blossom progression system.
At 100% charge, the odds are:
| Mutation | Chance at 100% charge |
|---|---|
| Bloom | 97.5% |
| Spirit Bloom | 2.5% |
The Incubator can be charged beyond 100%, up to 150%. Reaching the maximum charge improves the chance of getting the rarer Spirit Bloom mutation, but it does not guarantee Spirit Bloom.
For example, if you charge an egg to 100%, you have a 2.5% base chance of getting Spirit Bloom. If you decide to keep charging it toward 150%, you improve those odds, but you can still end up with Bloom.
This gives players a choice in how they spend their Sakura Crystals. If you’re trying to get Spirit Bloom, charging beyond 100% gives you a better chance, while stopping at 100% lets you move on to another egg sooner.
