RuneFest 2026 gave Old School RuneScape (OSRS) players multiple new quests to be excited about. Jagex has planned a full month of quests, the finale to the Fairytale questline, and a return to the cave goblins. In addition, it proposed a quest that finally opens Menaphos.
In this guide, we’ll go over each new quest – what you need to start it, what you earn, and when it could arrive.
OSRS RuneFest 2026 quests: a quick look
- During 2026 RuneFest, Jagex revealed their quest plans, most are proposals.
- The Graveyard is confirmed for November. This Master quest comes with a boss encounter and a new Agility course.
- Fool’s Gold takes you deeper into Menaphos, with a spring 2027 estimate from the OSRS Wiki.
- Fairytale III: Nexus of Power ends the Fairytale questline in 2027. You’ll have to steal the Nexus before the Fairy Godfather – a fairy who runs an orc mob instead of granting wishes.
- The Chosen Commander returns as a Master quest, due in early 2027.
- November is also the surprise Quest Month. Five (or more) surprise quests are set to happen, with at least one each week.
- 18 old quests could get XP rewards – you’ll claim them from Perdu.
What Jagex revealed at the RuneFest 2026 Summit
RuneFest 2026 ran on October 3-4, where Jagex shared its plans for the next year. A big part of the show was quests: surprise quests, the finale to a fan-favorite storyline, and a return to the cave goblins. Most of the quests are proposals; only the Graveyard is already confirmed and will, too, be released in November.
Quest Month: five new quests in November
This November is going to be a Quest Month. Jagex will be proposing five or more quests, releasing at least one each week. Usually, the quests are small, at a Novice or Intermediate difficulty; none go above Experienced. The tone of each quest varies, going from light-hearted adventures to darker storylines.
The quests come as a surprise – Jagex keeps the details secret until release, same as with The Ribbiting Tale of a Lily Pad Labour Dispute in Varlamore. Players vote on any notable rewards later. Every quest gives XP and quest points.
One more quest is planned for the month: The Graveyard. It passed the Campfire poll and has a November release plan.
That adds up to a busy month for OSRS players. Next comes the finale to a full questline: Fairytale III.
Fairytale III: Nexus of Power
Fairytale III: Nexus of Power is a Master-tier quest, and it closes the Fairytale questline.
You’ve helped the fairies grow their crops, and you saved the Fairy Queen from a mysterious illness. Now, the Fairy Godfather wants the Nexus – the artifact that created the fairy ring network.
Fairy Godfather is still at large
With the Nexus, he and his orc army can teleport anywhere in Gielinor. You can stop them by gathering a team of old friends and new allies, then stealing the Nexus before he gets to it. You’ll need cunning and brute force because the heavy guards are protecting it.
Jagex shared early reward ideas:
- A relaxed Runecraft training method built around the Nexus.
- A package of fairy ring upgrades, with a hint of a fourth code wheel.
- A repeatable boss called the Nexus Guardian, fought in Zanaris.

The Fairytale quests take place in Zanaris, the moon of Gielinor
If the poll passes, the quest is due in 2027; Jagex will share reward details also in 2027.
Those are fairy rewards. The next quest sends you back to the cave goblins.
The Chosen Commander
Zanik vanished at the end of Land of the Goblins. A strange box swallowed her – the Chosen Commander finally explains why. Apparently, it’s a backport of the 2009 finale to the Dorgeshuun questline. Jagex raises it from Experienced to Master tier, so you’ll need:
- 58 Agility
- 54 Thieving
- 46 Strength
- Land of the Goblins completed
If you reach that bar, you’ll earn three 40,000 XP lamps, one each for Agility, Strength, and Thieving. You also get Zanik’s Modified Crossbow, featuring a special attack.
Then Dorgesh-Kaan gets two new activities:
- You can fight statues in Bandos’ Throne Room
- You can also craft goblin gear at the Gasworks
Jagex hasn’t given the exact release date, but it is expected in early 2027.
Next, we’ll discuss Menaphos – the city that, until now, was closed to players for 20 years.
Fool’s Gold and the Ripgut quest
Fool’s Gold is a Master quest in the Kharidian storyline. It’s as big as Beneath Cursed Sands. You go undercover in Menaphos and investigate how Amascut controls the Puppet Pharaoh Kemesis.
Beneath Cursed Sands lets you enter the city, and Fool’s Gold takes you deeper. Inside, you’ll get two features:
- The true Soul Altar, where you craft Soul runes at 90 Runecraft.
- The Vault of the Soul Altar, the first Skilling Dungeon in the game, built around Thieving, Agility, and Runecraft.
Once again, Jagex gives no date. PCGamesN says spring 2027.
Beginners, too, get a quest. Dungeons of Gielinor proposes at least five new bosses, and one comes with a short goblin quest. That quest unlocks Ripgut, who’s an early-game boss in Asgarnia with a hard mode.
Old quests get a gift as well: free XP.
Free XP for old quests and quest quality-of-life changes
Quest Month also rewards old quests. Jagex wants to add XP rewards to 18 old quests that give none today. If you finished them already, you can claim the XP from Perdu.
Here are six examples:
| Quest | New reward |
|---|---|
| Demon Slayer | 2 Combat lamps, 1,000 XP each |
| Pirate’s Treasure | 800 Cooking XP |
| Rune Mysteries | 500 Runecraft XP |
| Below Ice Mountain | 1,200 Mining XP |
| Family Crest | 2,000 Mining, Smithing and Crafting XP each |
| Troll Stronghold | 2,000 Agility XP |
The quest list gets upgrades, too:
- Pin quests in progress to the top.
- Move completed quests to the bottom.
- Reorder the Starter sort to suit new players.
- Turn the Daddy’s Home miniquest into a full quest, so it gets a minimap icon.
- Rate each quest from 0 to 5 when you finish it (you can switch this off).
That’s all for quests and quest changes. Now, when should each one arrive?
When each quest arrives – the timeline
Here’s the full lineup, from earliest to latest. Every date (except The Graveyard’s) is a Jagex proposal or a Wiki estimate, so they’re quite solid, though Jagex can still change the date. Either way, Jagex usually shares the confirmed dates as the release gets closer.
| Quest | Tier | Release window | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Graveyard | Master | November, 2026 | Passed Campfire poll |
