Steal an Egg Update 3 introduces the Rift event, featuring a server-wide boss fight, exclusive eggs, and 15 new pets. Defeat the Abyss Overlord to earn Boss Tokens and Mastery rewards, or sacrifice pets at the Rift Machine to expand your prt collection.
In this guide, we’ll break down everything added in the Steal an Egg Rift update, including how to defeat the Abyss Overlord, earn and spend Boss Tokens, progress through Boss Mastery, use Rift Sacrifices, and obtain the new Rift pets.
What’s new in the Steal an Egg Rift event?
The Rift update adds five connected features:
- Rift Boss event: Rifts open across the map every 30 minutes, allowing you to fight the Abyss Overlord and earn Boss Tokens.
- Boss Shop: Boss Tokens can be exchanged for boosts and exclusive rewards, including the new Fractured mutation.
- Boss Mastery: Defeating the Overlord increases your Boss Mastery, unlocking better rewards as you defeat more bosses.
- Rift Sacrifices: You can sacrifice three requested pets at the Rift in the lobby to receive an exclusive Rift Egg.
- Rift Banners: Three new banners (eggs) contain 15 exclusive Rift pets, with the active banner rotating globally every three hours.
NOTE: The boss fight and pet sacrifices provide separate ways to earn rewards, so you can work on both as you progress.
Steal an Egg Rift Boss event
A Rift opens every 30 minutes, with an on-screen warning appearing 30 seconds before the boss spawns. Find the purple portal and enter the arena to join the fight. Rifts can appear in different locations, including later biomes such as Titan Temple and Cherry Blossom.
Everyone on the server can participate. Fighting alongside other players helps defeat the boss faster.
The fight has two phases:
- Destroy the power crystals. These protect the Overlord from damage. Keep moving to avoid attacks while your group destroys every crystal.
- Attack the exposed arms. Once the crystals are gone, wait for the boss to slam its arms into the arena, then hit them during the brief vulnerable period.
Repeat until the Overlord is defeated.
Abyss Overlord rewards
Winning gives you Boss Tokens and increases your Boss Mastery. You can get 1,200–1,500 Tokens per successful fight. Tokens fund Boss Shop purchases, while Mastery unlocks additional rewards as you complete more encounters.
Boss Shop and Fractured mutation
The Boss Shop sells temporary Cash and Speed-related boosts, plus the Fractured mutation consumable.

Apply the Fractured mutation to a placed egg to increase the income of the pet that hatches from it. Temporary boosts help with immediate progression, while the mutation provides ongoing income.
Steal an Egg Boss Mastery
Every Abyss Overlord victory adds to your Boss Mastery progress. Milestones award eggs, mutated eggs, and a permanent Token bonus.

Level 5 is a useful early target because its permanent 50% Token boost makes future boss runs more rewarding. Higher milestones offer additional eggs and mutated variants.
How to Get Rift eggs
Visit the Rift Machine in the lobby and collect the three pets shown in its current request. Sacrifice them to receive one Rift Egg.
Sacrificed pets are permanently consumed, so spare copies are preferable to pets you depend on for income. The requested pets change with the three-hour banner rotation, and a reroll option lets you change the requirements.
A completed sacrifice awards one of three eggs:

Steal an Egg Rift Banners
The final major part of the Rift event is the addition of three Rift Banners, each containing five exclusive pets introduced with Update 3. The banners rotate every three hours, synchronized globally across all servers. This means everyone sees the same active banner at a given time rather than each server following its own schedule.
The three banners correspond to the Riftborn Egg, Riftbeasts Egg, and Shattered Rift Egg. Each egg has five pets.
