Genshin Impact took the world by storm a few years back, and the hype doesn’t seem to be slowing down. With all the new content being released and the various tweaks to systems and combat, it’s clear why the game still draws so much attention. However, no less important than the mechanical side of things is the aesthetic representation - Genshin Impact’s art style drew the eyes of many, and one way to keep it is by giving players what they want. New Genshin Impact outfits refreshed the looks of some of the most beloved characters while offering an optional visual change to those who might still be on the fence about the whole outfit idea. In this article, we’d like to take a closer look at various costume changes available in the game and discuss how you can obtain them yourself!

New Genshin Impact Outfits in Version 4.4

The newest in-game event is centered around the Lantern Rite, and this time, players got access to three new costumes instead of the usual two.

Characters who benefited from the deviation from the usual formula are Shenhe, Ganyu and Xingqiu. Their skins are meant to commemorate the luxurious nature of the festival, and while the event lasts, players with active Genshin Impact accounts can finish up special tasks to earn Xingqiu’s skin for free

In general, new outfits are released a few times a year and correspond with major updates. However, there’s also an exception to the rule - 4 characters currently have free alternate costumes that, while not as intricate as the ones in the store, still provide a unique flair to the characters. As of game version 2.4, when players obtain Jean, Amber, Mona, or Rosaria, they will also receive their alternate costumes. At the moment of writing this, the outfits are completely free, and players can freely switch between them and the default style.

Seasonal Looks

It’s worth noting that new Genshin Impact outfits typically correspond with major in-game events. Several outfits are released per event, and they fall into the following classifications: outfits for 5-star characters and new looks for 4-star characters. Let's take a look at the 5-star character outfits first - these costumes often match the overall vibe of the ongoing event during which it was released. For example, Jean’s beach look was released while the game introduced a fun summer event where you hop around different small islands.

Keep in mind that the 5-star character outfits are always paid. During the initial release event, the outfits will have a slight discount, which will disappear once the event is over. However, the skins themselves remain in the shop from then on, only at the full price.

It’s a bit of a different story when it comes to the skins for 4-star characters. During the outfit release events, there is usually one for a 5-star character and one for a 4-star character. The costume for a 4-star character can be earned for free during the event, and afterward, it is put into the shop for purchase.

The ability to earn skins doesn’t get reruns, so players have a limited window to get a new costume for their 4-star characters before it turns buy-only. This means players with older Genshin Impact accounts will likely have more outfits than newcomers simply because they played while the ‘free’ outfit was released.

Extra Special Outfit

Among all the new Genshin Impact outfits, there’s one stand-out - and that’s the only 5-star skin meant for Diluc. All the skins, both for the 5-star characters and for the 4-star characters, are considered as 4-star costumes. By comparison, Diluc’s Red Dead of Night outfit has changes in animation and even voice lines. The replacement visuals work very well with the overall theme of the costume while giving the character a sense of innovation.

Such changes to the character’s idle animations or his lines during combat make the outfit stand out even among other brilliant costumes, which rightfully earns it a 5-star designation. However, it’s also more expensive than the rest.

Outfit Costs

Once they are introduced to the game, the outfits can be purchased in the special section of the shop. All the outfits rated as 4 stars cost 1,680 Genesis Crystals. The outfits for 5-star characters, upon initial release, have a discount, and for a limited time, you can purchase them for 1,350 Genesis Crystals. Currently, there’s only one 5-star outfit (Diluc’s), and it costs 2,480 Crystals. Obtaining new looks for your favorite characters can certainly get expensive since the estimation to unlock all the outfits is close to 18,000 Genesis Crystals. This includes both old and new Genshin Impact outfits.

Genshin Impact accounts that started their journey in Teyvat early on likely have at least part of the collection by simply being able to play while the events featuring outfit rewards were running. Additionally, players can use Genesis Crystal top-ups to purchase outfits at a discounted rate during the sale as part of the costume’s initial release. These sales have yet to appear again, meaning it’s likely that only the upcoming outfits will have a discount.

So, players are encouraged to keep an eye out for the upcoming new Genshin Impact outfits and try to take advantage of the limited-time discounts and outfit rewards. However, due to the nature of the game, newcomers likely can only complete their outfit collection by buying older skins at full price.
