WoW Mount Guide: What Are the Easiest Mounts to Obtain in WoW?

If you’re looking to add new mounts to your collection, then we have you covered! There are hundreds of mounts available in World of Warcraft, but some of them are extremely time-intensive to obtain, no longer available, or very expensive. If you don’t have tons of WoW Gold lying around and don’t have the time to sink into countless hours of mount grinding, then you’ll be happy to learn that you can still increase your mount collection by obtaining some of the easiest to obtain mounts in the game. Let’s get started.

Flying Carpet Mount

This mount was added in the Wrath of the Lich King Expansion and is fairly unique with only a handful of flying carpet model mounts available in the game, so it’s a great one to add to your collection. The mount does require 300 in the Tailoring profession (Artisan), requires that your character be level 60, and requires expert riding. This mount is easy to obtain as a Tailor, and the materials required to craft the mount are relatively cheap. The item is bind-on-equip, so if you don’t plan on using it for whatever reason, or you have a surplus, you can also sell it on the Auction House.

Heirloom Mounts

Both Horde and Alliance players can obtain the Chauffeured Chopper heirloom mount by earning the Heirloom Hoader achievement. This achievement requires that you have 35 heirloom items across your account. The achievement is easy to get since you can buy heirlooms for reasonable prices and probably already have them if you’re a seasoned player who likes leveling alts. The Chauffeured Chopper mount is unique with a great aesthetic and has some neat little advantages over other mounts. This mount requires no riding skill, so you can ride the mount from level 1, which makes it great for leveling alts. It also allows you to drive through mobs without being discounted when you are attacked, another major bonus for leveling. The only drawback of the mount is that it has a max speed of 60% which is a little sluggish and becomes frustrating at higher levels.

Vashj’ir Seahorse

You can obtain this mount by questing in the underwater zone of Vashj’ir, a Cataclysm zone in Eastern Kingdoms. The mount is obtained as a quest reward from The Abyssal Ride quest and increases swimming speed by 450%. The mount is easy to obtain since you will likely obtain it if you quest in this area, and as such, it is a common mount found in player’s collections. Some players have dubbed this mount “the most pointless mount” since it is zone restricted. You’d think that since it is an underwater mount, it could be used in any aquatic area, but you’d be wrong. You can only use the mount in Vashj’ir. While this is frustrating, if you’re just looking for cool-looking mounts to add to your collection and have some free time, then this mount is a good candidate.

Marks of Honor PvP Mounts

There are different PvP Mounts for both Horde and Alliance and these mounts can be bought using Marks of Honor as currency. There are a total of seven PvP mounts for each faction, so if you play both Horde and Alliance, that’s 14 mounts you can obtain. We consider these mounts easy to get because you can obtain them through collecting Marks of Honor through a range of different PvP activities, some of which are casual and fun, requiring no added effort. You also don’t have to use any WoW Gold to buy the mount or complete a lengthy quest chain or tackle a tricky raid encounter. If you enjoy PvP, then you’ll be sure to get one of these mounts in a relatively short amount of time.

Reins of The Twilight Drake

This is a flying drake mount that drops from Sartharion, The Onyx Guardian, in The Obsidium Sanctum. The Obsidium Sanctum is a level 80-83 Wrath of the Lich King raid instance located in the Dragonblight zone. Sartharion is the final boss of the raid by can be easy located by heading straight ahead when you enter the raid instance. The boss is easy to kill for any max or near the max-level player and has a 75% chance to drop the Reins of The Twilight Drake mount. This means that if you don’t get the drop on your first run, you’re likely to get it on your second.

Darkwater Skate

This unique looking mount is only obtainable during the Darkmoon Faire event, but when the event rolls around, the mount is relatively easy to obtain and is a great looking mount to add to your collection. You buy the mount from a vendor at the Darkmoon Faire, called Galissa Sundew, at the price of 500 Darkmoon Daggermaw fish. If you’re wondering how to get 500 Darkmoon Daggermaw fish, it’s simple. You can obtain the fish by fishing in the waters around Darkmoon Island, and the water is well stocked with Darkmoon Daggermaw fish so it shouldn’t take you too long. There are also a few places in Azeroth you can farm for the fish, such as Frostwall, Drustvar, Nagrand, and other zones. Alternatively, you can buy the fish from the Auction House, although this is only an option if you have a lot of WoW Gold since the fish are very expensive. The mount can only be used in aquatic environments which is fairly limiting but none the less, useful to have for when the situation arises.

Marsh Hopper Mounts

Known to players as “the frog mount”, the Marsh Hopper mounts are easy to obtain because they don’t require any reputation grinding or quests to obtain, all you need is Gold. While this makes the mounts easy to obtain, the price will be restrictive for some players since each mount costs 333,333 World of Warcraft Gold or around one million WoW Gold for all three mounts. However, it’s not really worth getting all three of the Marsh Hopper mounts, since they are the same mount only in different colors, so if you do have the Gold just pick your favorite color and just get one mount. You can buy the mount from a vendor called Gottum located in the southwest of Krag’was Burrow in Nazmir. The available colors are green, yellow, and blue, and while that may seem like a limited selection, these mounts are still relatively rare in the game. According to Wowhead, only 3% of profiles have the Green Marsh Hopper, 2% of profiles have the Blue Marsh Hopper, and only 1% of profiles have the Yellow Marsh Hopper. This makes these mounts easy to obtain but will still make you stand out in a crowd at your faction’s capital.
